Villalba was born in Alicante in 1968. He studied at School of Fine Arts and Crafts in his hometown, and later in San Carlos Art School in Valencia.

With his technique of using dense and bold brush strokes, he achieves a set of contrasts of warm tones and nuances. His paintings are a constant improvisation to the viewer. The figures appearing on his paintings reach an appealing expressivity and a sensation of harmony in the performance. Within the oil he dominates many issues, but his specialty is the Venetian subjects, a theme that vibrates with the sharpness colors and combining it perfectly with soft tones and loose brush strokes that achieves an harmonious combination in each canvas.
